“turn inward and listen to the oceanic flow that connects … to self, others, and the wider world”
Dont’ miss this dynamic, interactive workshop with Glenis Redmond, critically acclaimed poet, teaching artist and imagination activist. Last year, Glenis joined us for an inspiring conversation on Creating Space. Anawim Arts is delighted to welcome her back.

In Gatherings with Glenis, she tells stories with poetry—tales from her life, her family, her African American heritage, and her sensitive observations of the world around her. She leads through inspiration while guiding participants with an encouraging hand reminding them to turn inward and listen to the oceanic flow that connects them to self, others, and the wider world. Glenis gives participants license to dream and to delve deeply. Glenis uses engaging poem forms, activities, and prompts to help participants write in their journals, to doodle and to ultimately create poems written from the heart and the imagination.
Glenis Redmond is a teaching artist with the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC; a mentor for the National Students Poet Program, a Cave Canem Alumni, and a featured performer on National Public Radio and TEDx. Watch her TEDx Talk here. In 2020 she was awarded South Carolina’s highest arts honor, The Governor’s Award for the Arts. Glenis’ fourth book of poetry, The Listening Skin is forthcoming from Four Way books in 2022.
