Spring Poetry Reading

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:

A Poetry Reading Tribute to Mary Oliver

April 14, 2019, 3-5 PM

Poetry is a life-cherishing force. For poems are not words, after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry.

Mary Oliver, A Poetry Handbook

Anawim Arts is dedicated to expressing the intersection of art and spirituality.  Mary Oliver was a poet who exemplified this connection, often finding in nature an experience or metaphor that connects us to the divine in all things.  She was a beloved, Pulitzer-Prize winning American poet who passed away in January, 2019. Anawim Arts is hosting a poetry reading in her honor.

Poets are invited to submit original work that reflects her sensitivity to nature and/or her deep connection to the spirit. All are welcome to attend this tribute to this gifted poet and to the beauty and wisdom that poetry can add to our lives.

The event is sponsored in collaboration with the Wheaton Franciscans Tau Center and will be held at:
