Congregation of Jesus – US Region

Anawim Arts grew out of the work of the Loretto Sisters in Wheaton, IL. The Loretto Sisters belong to the Congregation of Jesus (formerly, the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary), a worldwide religious community of Catholic women dedicated to serving God by responding to the needs of God’s people. They are committed to working for freedom, justice, and sincerity in our times with particular interest in the needs of women and children and those who are marginalized.

In December 2019, Anawim Arts announced the beginning of a collaboration with the IBVM Arts Ministry, creating a link to the IBVM international community (as of 2025, called the Congregatio Jesu).

The Congregatio Sisters are women drawn to companionship in the service of the Gospel. Inspired by Mary Ward and the Ignatian spirituality of discernment, freedom, and courageous love, our life and mission are shaped by the desire “to find God in all things” and to respond to the needs of the world with compassion, creativity and faith.

From Europe to Africa, from Asia to the Americas – we form one body, one mission, one spirit.
 Together we seek to bring hope where there is despair, light where there is darkness, and dignity where it has been lost.


Tau Center

Anawim Arts is pleased to be offering many of our programs in collaboration with Tau Center. Tau Center is a spirituality ministry of the Wheaton Franciscans. The Wheaton Franciscans are a welcoming community of faith striving together to be instruments of peace, hope and justice in our world today. Tau Center offers diverse experiences where people can nourish their spirit including: Contemplation and Prayer, Creative Spirituality, Inner-Exploration and Self-Reflection and Holistic Care and Healing Arts. https://www.taucenter.org/
