In The Dry Land, Susan Daily, CJ, OAM, explores the challenge of water scarcity as a climate and social justice issue. She sees that creation longs for healing, and urges us to offer that healing through small acts of climate justice.
About the Artist
Susan’s artwork combines contemporary digital techniques with traditional principles of storytelling, symbolism, and prayer.
She has loved illustrating Bible stories since childhood, and that passion remains at the heart of everything she does. “As I create, I pray with the scriptural text and allow it to guide each image.”
Because no one truly knows what Jesus looked like, she deliberately avoids depicting detailed facial features. This allows viewers to imagine themselves within the Gospel story and to encounter Christ in a more personal way. This approach encourages artists and communities to find these answers themselves, together and on their own.
Her style is intentionally simple, symbolic, and accessible. Through colour, movement, and imagery, she seeks to create works that invite reflection, conversation, and prayer. The Dry Land hopes to add to reflections, conversations, and prayer about climate justice.
