You are invited! (and last call for artists and writers)

Join us for an afternoon of art, poetry readings, and celebrating hope and beauty in the face of loss and brokenness.

Anawim Arts 2026 art show, Dare to Dream: Brokenness Needs Beauty, will feature visual art paired with the written word.

In addition to the art show, Anawim Arts will launch our first book of poetry, written by one our founding members, Karen Hurley Kuchar. Karen passed away from cancer in the fall of 2023. During her cancer experience, she wrote a moving collection of poems, under the title How to Live While Dying. With Karen’s family, Anawim Arts is honored to share this collection of poems as our first published book. One poem from the collection, Autumn Floats, is offered below.

Books will be available for purchase at the event. Beverages & small bites will be served.

Date: Sunday, July 12, 1-3 pm.

Location: Wheaton Franciscans, 26W171 Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, IL.

Please park in the lots for doors 5 or 7 and follow the signs.

Submit your work by May 30th
