To everything there is a season …
As we finish adding the playful and joy-inspiring works of art from the 2024 Art Show to our website, we are conscious of the realities of living through some dark and challenging times. At the same time we acknowledge that this has always been a part of being human. The Anawim Arts mission to be at the intersection of Art and Spirituality includes a calling to believe that it is always a season for play and creativity. When the Anawim Board was asked to write about this recently, we reflected, “Creativity is a way of being that allows us to imagine and work towards a world with more joy and wonder, with more wholeness and goodness.”
So let us continue to work towards bringing more love and justice into the world and let us continue to play and wonder. We would love to hear from you regarding ways that play and wonder are important to you right now.

This reminds me of the need to make things — to create small things around us (a meal, a poem, a drawing, a sweater) and how that then moves to co-creating the world with those around us. We never truly have no efficacy. We can always make something. And we can decide it will be good.
